Our Story

Our story

From hand-stitched edges to bespoke masterpieces

Like every other small business, ours was also a humble beginning. What began as a passion project in a spare room with acts of hand-edging handkerchiefs and mending cushion covers, Nayam Design Studio blossomed into a passion for creating bespoke garments, intricate embroidery, handwoven baskets, and beyond. Nayam Design Studio now partners with artisans and clients across continents – uniting cultures through the timeless craft and sharing the beauty of hand embroidery. We continue to honour the craftsmanship of the past while crafting unique, contemporary pieces that tell stories and celebrate individuality.

Priyaguna is an internationally recognised, multi award-winning hand embroidery artist and tutor based in Camberley, UK, and the founder of Nayam Design Studio. Her practice brings together Indian heritage embroidery techniques with English embroidery craftsmanship, creating work rooted in detail, patience, and storytelling.
With over 10 years of experience in hand embroidery, Priyaguna’s work spans bridal commissions, contemporary textile pieces, teaching, exhibitions, and award-recognised embroidery artefacts. She is currently undertaking the Professional Embroidery Tutor Programme at the Royal School of Needlework, UK further developing her technical practice and teaching approach.
Through Nayam, she creates and teaches embroidery as both a refined skill and a creative outlet, offering classes for children and adults, workshops, private tuition, and bespoke commissions.
